On April 23, the Kurier Academy, a jury of established cultural journalists and previous ROMY winners, selected the winners for the ROMY 2015. “Streif – One Hell of a Ride” was awarded with a ROMY in the category “Best Documentary”.
Patrick Ortlieb, a former Austrian world cup ski racer, handed over the prize to film director Gerald Salmina, who shared some advice for all the filmmakers out there: "It's really simple: If you want to win something, you have to risk everything.” He was extremely proud especially because “no one ever believed that we could bring a skiing movie on the big screen. But in the end we have had 190,000 viewers (in Austria) with a sports documentary film that really needs its own genre."
The annual ROMY Film and TV award, named after the Austrian-born actress Romy Schneider, honors the best performances in front of the camera (public categories) and also the people behind the scenes (jury categories). The awards, in partnership with the Austrian daily Kurier, aim to support film and TV professionals in the domestic industry and broaden the film and television landscape.
